March 17, 2009

Happy St. Patrick's Day! This morning we had green scrambled eggs, green pancakes, green grapes and green milk. After heading out for a playdate (that we actually missed...we were late and it was raining anyway!) we came back home and ate the snacks we prepped for the playdate. The girls ate ham wraps and drank juice boxes. Here they are right before naptime, sharing a cuddle and some grapes.

I'm not exactly sure why Isabella had these sunglasses on while she was brushing her teeth this evening, but she did, and she thought she was a total rock star. Thankfully she made time to stop and pose for the paparazzi!!

March 14, 2009

The weather has been cold and wet, wet, wet lately. So this afternoon, Daddy took out his secret stash of activities; a solar-powered cricket kit, and pipe cleaners! After he and Isabella made the little solar-powered bug that shakes when it's scared (when light hits it,) they made sculptured out of pipe cleaners. I made a figure 8 and told Isabella it was a pair of glasses. Daddy added the arms and she thought they were so cool! She actually wore them for a while and let me snap a few photos before she tossed them down. I was so impressed with Kevin that he found fun, rainy day activities for the girls to do. They had a wonderful afternoon, even if the weather was terrible.

March 13, 2009

Isabella had Rodeo Day at school yesterday. I actually took these photos yesterday, but I edited them tonight. I volunteered to help out in one of the rooms where the kids made "biscuits" out of clay, "branded" cattle by stamping letters on sheets of paper, tossed bandannas in a bucket, and helped place stars in the big, Texas sky. When Isabella's class came in, she and her best bud, Lisette, stuck together. They make a cute pair, but I'm pretty sure they get into some trouble!

This is another photo from Lafayette. Gavin and Isabella were climbing a tree one afternoon. I just love his big, beautiful eyes. He's such a handsome boy. :)

OK, so we've been travelling a lot lately and I didn't take any photos today. This one is from last week in Lafayette. Isabella picked an azalea from Nonni's back yard. She said that princesses always put flowers behind their ears. She even gave one to our friend, Lainie, to wear. :)

UGH! It is so hard to get three little monkeys to cooperate! I really wanted to get a shot of the girls' and Gavin's little feet. But keeping them all still while I tried to get the shot was nearly impossible! This was the best I could do. Ione only has one foot in the picture, but it's better than her rear-end, which is all I got from her in the other shots!

I love Isabella's eyelashes here. She's got such a beautiful profile. And I love the touch of ketchup on her cheek!

March 8, 2009

This afternoon we went to the Zoo of Acadiana. It was nicer than I had expected. It's on about 40 acres of property. They have quite a few large, exotic animals, and a train that rides you out to the "safari adventure" area. It was really nice.

The reason we went today though, was because Dora the Explorer was there. Oh my goodness! Everyone in town was there! Luckily my well-laid plans were foiled and we got there much later than I had planned. That meant we missed standing in line for 3+ hours to see Dora. Thank goodness for small favors!

While we were in line waiting, we watched this panther play with her trainer. She would act like she was not interested in the stick she was holding, then leap up and chase it down the path. She was very playful and a gorgeous animal. The lighting was very dim because it was getting dark. Although there is some blurring from so much motion, I love the look I caught on her face.

This afternoon we played with our friend, Logan. He is exactly two weeks older than Ione. We don't get to see him often, so it's a treat to visit and play together. He is such a sweet baby boy! He played in the little playhouse and brought dinner to his mommy. He rode bikes and cars. But when he found a bouncy-ball, he was ecstatic! He would clap his hands like a little baseball player and hold his hands up, ready to catch. He is absolutely adorable. I love this little munchkin! Thanks, Mama for bringing him over to play!

Every day this week the weather has been gorgeous. So, every day we've had lunch outside. Picnics are so much fun! It's the same old lunch we would have had at the kitchen table, but it tastes so much better when we're sitting on a blanket on the ground. The kids have loved eating outside. they can get up and run around a bit, then settle back down for a few more bites. It has helped with the "wearing them out" that I planned for the week too!

Today we went to the Lafayette Children's Museum. Isabella went once when she was really young, but this was Ione and Gavin's first trip to the Children's Museum. When we walked in, Gavin ran straight towards the first booth and played with the abacus. He was so focused on everything he did. Ione, on the other hand, thought I was dropping her off at some sort of daycare. She started screaming and running back towards the entrance. It took me a while to convince her that I was staying there with her and that it would be fun! They all three had lots of fun pushing grocery carts in the child-sized Winn-Dixie. Gavin was more interested in the cart than shopping, so Ione filled his backet for him. Isabella was most proud of the receipt she got for checking out at the real cash register. They also enjoyed the bubble station and the ambulance a lot. Gavin concentrated so hard on this train set though. He loves trucks and trains, and he is so cute when he is wrapped up in playing.

The kids had a SUPER day at Girard Park! We played on swings and slides, played chase, had a picnic then marched back to the car. Nap time was a breeze!

Rub-a dub-dub! Three kids in a tub! The kidos really enjoyed Mamaw and Papaw's big, new bathtub. Bath time was so easy every night, but getting them OUT of the tub was a different story!

Our gorgeous baby girl is growing so much! This afternoon, she rode her Fropper down the incline of our driveway, full-tilt towards the street, with her feet raised for maximum speed. She is fearless! Her big sister would never takes chances like she does. She is so daring, yet so delicate. I love watching her grow and change. She can be a little monkey, but she's without a doubt our little princess!

My great-grandmother's 91st birthday is Thursday, so the girls and I made her a card today. Ione loves "writing her name" when we do crafts. She asks me to hold her hand to help her write. She is always so proud of her work. She holds her crayon so well, and can make beautiful little circles. I especially like this photo because she is wearing a hat that our dear friend, Pamela made for her. Ione must know how special the hat is, because she asks to wear it often, and she is usually not a hat-wearin'-baby!

Wow...today I took a whopping 8 photos! Luckily, I caught Isabella in a good, cooperative mood!

Tonight we went to the Katy Rodeo. The girls were dressed as little cowgirls; Isabella with her cow-print dress, boots and hat, Ione with her suede Sheriff's vest and denim jumper. We had hoped to make it in time for the stick-horse race, but we were late (parking was a nightmare!) The girls enjoyed it though. We watched cowboys ride horses, kids ride sheep, and rode a few rides at the carnival. It was a good night all around.
